I started my career as a print designer, dedicating several years to crafting designs for tangible objects. With plenty of time for self-reflection over the pandemic, I began exploring where I wanted to go next in my career. As a big consumer of digital products and long-time technophile, this led me to pursue product design.

I think back to nights hunched over my Powerbook, foregoing sleep to teach myself Dreamweaver by way of HTML, XHTML, and CSS (remember that book?) and W3Schools. Now we have no-code platforms like Webflow, Bubble and Zapier. What I appreciate most about product design is the chance to streamline processes and make once-inaccessible things accessible for all. The continuous learning process and opportunities to make real-world impact are what consistently bring me back for more.

Talents I bring to the table

Graphic Design
My graphic design background equips me with a strong foundation in visual design and proficiency in industry-standard design software. Need to photoshop a bear riding a dolphin under the sea? I gotchu.
Empathy
I love to listen (no, really I do). As a creative liaison for diverse organizations, I learned to empathize with others and value their unique perspectives.
Adaptability
I'm a quick learner (unless it's science—I suck at it) and can easily adapt to changing situations. My work with start-ups has required me to be versatile and switch gears as needed.
Communication
Good communication is essential in any relationship, including design projects. I prioritize transparency and early-stage discussion to ensure better outcomes.
Basic Coding Knowledge
Don't worry, I don't know enough to be dangerous. In fact, I only know enough to change the format and styling of this portfolio. I did try to learn javascript once, but this is as far as I got:

<script type="text/javascript">
var name="emily";
if (name=="emily")
{
alert ("hey emily!");
}

</script>

Other fun stuff

I'm owned by 2 cats: Bentley & Versace (their names are ironic because I am anything but luxurious).
I draw comics for fun about random things in my life.
I'm a crypto enthusiast.
I married my wife in a Breather.
I'm obsessed with playing Dead by Daylight (add me: lazynoodle).
I love obscure events (like this one)—the weirder, the better.
